The Merkel Gear BigGame Knife is a powerful knife with a fixed blade.
What was important to Merkel Gear was classic, functional lines, a particularly ergonomically shaped handle and an overall construction that was as hygienic as possible. The blade is made of AUS-8 steel. This rust-resistant Japanese steel is very easy to resharpen, but at the same time it is surprisingly hard when it comes to blade sharpness. Extremely hard steel is of little use for hunting knives if they cannot be sharpened quickly on site. With really big game or a longer distance, occasional re-sharpening is usually indispensable.
In order to avoid light reflections, the entire steel is kept elegantly matt with a stonewash finish. The handle consists of two orange-colored G10 shells, which can be removed for thorough cleaning of the knife using rust-free Torx screws. The knife is artfully ribbed on top of the 3.8 mm thick back of the blade to prevent it from slipping. The foremost, deep-cut finger recess also forms a reliable parrying element. A lanyard hole and subtle logo symbols on the blade complete this knife developed for rough everyday hunting.
